For my town's history I will be talking about my family's background first. First thing, on my mothers side my grandmother's family are originally from Syria, They lived in a pretty well known city called Aleppo. The city of Aleppo was the largest city in the Syrian region making it an extremely major city. The Jewish population in Aleppo was approximately 175,000 to 200,000+ but today there are no Jews left in Syria. The Jewish community in Syria has existed for over two thousand years. The community in Aleppo was famous for having one of the most famous handwritten bibles in the world, the Aleppo Codex- Keter Aram Sobah. There were also some famous Rabbis there. For example: Rabbi Haim Mordecai Labaton, Rabbi Yitzhak Attia, Rabbi Shabtai Beda, and Rabbi Shalom Hedaya. Aleppo is known for it's historical buildings and history that has been there for thousands of years. It was beautiful then and is most definitely still beautiful now.
